* Ann-Margret was a cheerleader at New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois.
* She attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

* Ann-Margret was discovered by actor/comedian George Burns when he heard her sing in a campus musical at Northwestern University. In 1960 he hired her to be a part of his Vegas act.

* In 1961 she made her first film appearance in "Pocketful of Miracles".
* When she made "State Fair" in 1962 her salary was $500 per week.

* In 1963 Ann-Margret hit the big-time when see appeared in the musical Bye Bye Birdie. This film gave her the opportunity to exhibit her youthful & energetic talent for song & dance.

* Her next big screen role was to star opposite the king himself in the musical classic "Viva Las Vegas (1964). Ann-Margret was considered then & is still considered today to have been Elvis Presley's most dynamic co-star. She matched him note for note & move for move.

* Ann-Margret & Elvis Presley developed a lifelong friendship & word has it that Elvis sent her flowers on special occassions right up until his death in 1977.

* Ann-Margret even became famous enough to make an animated guest appearance as "Ann-Margrock" on an episode of "The Flintstones."

* In 1971 she was cast in the Mike Nichols drama "Carnal Knowledge". Her rivetting sexy performance earned her an Academy Award nomination.

* In a 1972 concert at Lake Tahoe Nevada, she fell 22-feet from a a stage. The fall nearly ended her career but she made an amazing recovery.

* In 1975 she received her 2nd Academy Award nomination for her role in the rock opera "Tommy". 3 years later in 1978 she co-starred with Anthony Hopkins in the thriller "Magic".

* In the 1980's she settled on playing older women roles in films such as a "A Tiger's Tale" (1987) & "A New Life" (1988). In the movie "A Tiger's Tale" Ann-Margret plays a mother who gets involved with her daughter's boyfriend.

* Throughout the 90's, Ann-Margret appeared in a number of quality made for TV movies.

* In 1993 Ann-Margret becomes the object of affection opposite comedy legends Jack Lemmon & Walter Matthau in the hit comedy "Grumpy Old Men". She also reprised her role in the sequel "Grumpier Old Men" (1996).

* In 1994 she published her autobiography & in 1995 she was chosen by Empire magazine as one of the 100 Sexiest Stars in film history, ranking 10th.

* In August 2000, she suffered 3 broken ribs & a fractured shoulder when she was thrown off a motorcycle she was driving in Minnesota, US.
